I kno that I've posted about 500 Days of Summer before, but I just found out that it was edited using Final Cut Pro, which is the same software we use in school! I thought was pretty neat haha. I've been having so much fun experiencing everything hands on with my major this semester. I'm working my butt off lol. If I want to get my masters at UCLA I've got to graduate with amazing grades here first, so I'm definitely trying my best!!

So I'm turning over a new leaf. It's right smack dab in the middle of the semester and I'm extremely drained, mentally and emotionally. However, when I woke up this morning I felt determined to start my day with a strong sense of determination. I'm not going to let all of my projects and papers overwhelm me. I'm going to tackle each one with confidence! Plus I'm inspired by the countdown until Thanksgiving break! Only 16 more days til I catch that plane to Kansas City, Missouri and experience good ole sweet potato pie, with the entire fam :)

101 Dalmatians was one of my favorite disney movies growing up, I loved the evil villain Cruella, she scared the crap outta me lol. Also, I absolutely adored the way the film was animated. It was drawn in the hip, jazzy beatnik style of the sixties. I'd love to live in a house like the one Roger and Anita had haha. I watched it again last night and fell in love with it all over again, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorite screenshots from the film :)

It has been a CRAZY, stressful week. But somehow it went by extremely fast, thank God lol. I still have so much to do this weekend, however. I'm so overwhelmed with life right now, personal decisions, sophomore year of school decisions and crazy family decisions. This week I was just praying for the spirit of contentment, because I have a real issue with waiting on God's timing, even though my name is Patience lol. I'm always worried bout my future, career wise, and who I'm going to marry. I've got to learn to drop it though, and focus on God's timing.

Goodwill Hunting...

So after reading one of my fellow bloggers (called That Good Good Blog) post about doing a little Goodwill thrifting, I had to take a trip over to Goodwill myself, and do a little huntin :) I found two great items for less then 6 dollars.

I got a great little black, crossbody bag, and an awesome 80's sweater to go with it. Its kinda of an earthy toned, girly version of a classic Bill Cosby sweater, with a nice low V-neck that zips up. Its so oversized and cozy! After I tried it on, it made me want to go back home all the way to Kansas City to sit in front of the fireplace, to soak up its timeless warmth and nostalgia. Gosh I miss our fireplace lol. I can't wait to go back home for Thanksgiving!!! Until then, I shall wrap up in the cozziness of my "Cosby" sweater, and work my butt off in school lol.

Denise was my favorite kid on the Cosby show. She had THEE coolest, eclectic style that I'd always longed to have. It wasn't just the clothes that made Denise cool though, it was her swag, the way she actually wore the clothes. As crazy as they were, they never overpowered her as an individual, and she became my style icon. It's so funny how her daughter Zoe has the same little way of putting different items of clothing together to make something brand new.

New Beginnings

Its been a wonderful sophomore year so far! Its actually really hard to believe that I'm already in my second year of college... weird actually, haha. I'm probably the most excited about my decision to minor in French, I fell in love with the language my freshman year, and never stopped thinking about it; as a result, I decided to try my best to become fluent in the beautiful language. I really want to be able to go to a country that speaks French, and be able to comprehend and communicate with that culture...it would be wonderful, and a dream come true.

Anyways, I'm having a great labor day... having my on little mini Johnny Depp marathon (Cry Baby, 21 Jump Street). Goodness, I'd marry him in a heartbeat haha. I'm also doin a bit of hw here and there, I completed most of yesterday...o and I'm doin a smidge of laundry as well... which sucks because I live on the 3rd floor of the dormitory... and laundry is all the way in the basement.. o well.. its good exercise :)

So I've been reading Eat Pray Love while I'm in Hawaii, I'm about one third of the way through, and let me just say that it's fantastic so far! I love how raw it is, I guess it reads so real because of the fact that it IS real (true story) but still, its great. I can identify with Elizabeth, shes so familiar to me in so many different ways... I especially love this quote, "...Traveling is the great true love of my life. I am loyal and constant in my love for travel, I feel about travel the way a happy new mother feels about her impossible, colicky, restless newborn baby- I just don't care what it puts me through. Because I adore it. Because it's mine..." And thats exactly the way I feel about traveling, and learning new languages, its so pleasurable for me, I absolutely adore it. Go buy a copy of Elizabeth Gilbert's best selling book before you see the movie...

Victory for All!!!

Yes yes yes...I'm almost 20 years old, but I still watch Nickalodeon and the Disney channel from time to time, I mean who doesn't? Anyways if you've scanned the Nick channel lately, you've probably noticed it's newest show Victorious. It's so good AND funny! That's really rare in teen sitcoms lately, so I get excited when my little sister tunes into a show that we both think is worth watching while letting go of a few laughs along the way. The main gal, Victoria Justice, is so adorable, ok she's 17, so maybe I should say gorgeous lol. But she's just a likable, down to earth type of girl, seems like she would be very aproachable. I really like that in teen stars...I'm tired of the Miley's and the JoBros, I mean come on. As Teen Vogue's newest cover girl, Vicky proves that she's got it all figured out when it comes to her own personal style, and I'm in love with it.

So it's official...I've decided to minor in French! I have no idea why it took me so long to see it, because this whole entire summer I could do nothing else but speak in French (when the timing was right lol) I was surprised at how much I retained from only 2 semesters of the class. But my experience was too wonderful to forget. I kept fantasizing myself living in France, not the "fancy" tourist France that you always see in the movies, but the real life France, the relaxed culture, and the amazing, mouth watering food. And the people, most of all I want to interact with the people! I've always loved experiancing different cultures, so if everything works out, next summer I'll be studying abroad in France for about 6 weeks!!! Magnifique!!!

What is Reality?

Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.

One word....Inception. Go see it, like now!!!!!!! It was simply breathtaking, the score, the cinematography, everything was brilliant. I'd like to climb inside of Christopher Nolan's dreams for a bit, see what kind of lovely ideas that he has just waiting to find their way out.

I didn't realize how much of an impact this movie had on my thoughts until I saw it the second time today, and let me just say, it was magical; in a way that I simply can't describe. The last piece of the movie, the last melodic score that Hans Zimmer and Nolan leave you with, is incandescently beautiful, and might I say timeless. Don't believe me? So I'm on my way to New York, and my halfway point is Ohio, so I decided to stop by one of my fav spots, Barnes and Nobles to purchase a book that I've been hearing a lot a bought: Sam Wassons, Fifth Avenue, 5 a.m. I've read about 20 pages so far, and let me just say that its been a really great read! I think the atmospheric vibe of Starcbucks also helped, for I had a little Sinatra and good coffee to calm my senses. O how I love Fridays like this! Who needs to go out when you can have a lovely time by yourself, relaxing and reading lol?

So I'm pretty sure that I was a complete nerd this weekend and watched the whole Matrix trilogy for the bajillionth time lol. I'm not so sure why I've always loved the movies, but they've always intrigued me in a way that I can't explain. Maybe it's the guns, the action packed freeway chases, the slick futuristic style, or the Alice in Wonderland storyline. I love the idea (although it's obviously not true) of thinking that the world we live in could in fact be a hoax, and the real world is lying wasting away far beneath the earths surface. My altar ego, would definitely be Trinity, she kicks butt!

So I was reading an InStyle article on Julia Roberts, and sadly I had forgotten about how much I love her! She's one of my all time favorite actresses; so tomorrow night I've planned a Julia movie night with my best friend, just a fun night of all the iconic Julia flicks, My Best Friends Wedding, Runaway Bride, Erin Brockovich and maybe even Sleeping with the Enemy, but my favorite of hers has to be Pretty Woman! It's such a captivating story line, and I absolutely love the script, so witty and charming :)

I've always loved anything and everything from the Rococo period (yes that includes Marie Antoinette)! I'm actually redecorating my room after this style, and can't wait until it's done. The funny thing is that I am anything but a girly girl, but for some reason I love the carefree pastels and all of the gaudy gold accents that used to lace the palaces of France. If you get the chance, try to watch Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette film, it's SO good, well if you like the carefree, prancing around in the field type movies haha. I wouldn't watch it if your looking for a good documentary. With that said, I'll be posting pics as soon as I get done with my room!!

So technically I haven't had any REAL lazy summer days yet, but I don't mind :) I've been helping my mom out with my grammy who just moved in a few months ago, and it's a lot of work, but I don't mind. I'm glad that I can come back home and help! Aside from that, I've been able to have my moments of yummy Starbucks, lazy book reading on the patio, and havin fun movie nights with friends :) It's been great so far! I can't believe I've already been home for one month! I'm lovin it. Actually, I'm sittin outside right now as I'm writing this, having the privilege of being caressed by the cool summer breeze, listening to the Verve. O and I can't wait to go swimming!

So I had an awesome night! It was "Senior Send Off", a night of music and good food in honor of the seniors here. Anyways, it was the PERFECT weather, 75 degrees (mind you it was from 9-11pm), a slight breeze, some of the trees were laced with tiny white lights, and my roommate even saw a shooting star, sadly i missed it! dang! lol and the best folksy music from our very own wonderfully talented students :) It was like our own little version of a coachella festival! I was barefoot in the grass, and so stress free because today was my LAST day of classes!!! All I have left are my finals and then I'm done with my freshman year... its crazy! If every year goes by as fast as this year... well goodness! I didn't t get to take pictures tonight... but if I would have, they would've been similar to these, except that it was darker outside lol:

Okay so I'm pretty sure that I used to watch this movie everyday one summer with my best friend. She was Ella and I was Lola, Lola Step lol. Gosh I thought this was the best movie. Lola made me want a lifesize poster of my favorite band on my wall (first pic) and I still do lol, but have yet to find a poster that size haha. Lola embodied the best taste in style and her personality was dope! I mean now that I watch it it's still pretty lame, but I just love all of the little quirks too much to let it go for good!

Today is just THE perfect Sunday :) I've been lying around my dorm room, reading Nicholas Sparks' the Last Song, watching Audrey in Funny Face, studying for an Art History Exam, listening to Anita O'Day, Ella, and Billie, flippin through April's Vogue, sippin coffee, and enjoying a warm breeze flowing from my window! Of course not all at the same time lol. But you get my drift, it's been a great relaxing day so far, and its only 1:00. It's been a great start to a week that I know is gonna be a little hectic, but I'm ready for it, bring it! There's only 3 more weeks left til my freshman year in college is over... CRAZY! I absolutely ADORED Tim Burton's version of Alice in Wonderland. I had the privilege of seeing it in 3D and it was o so sweet. I didn't want it to end. It was like Burton's own little twisted version of Narnia. Epic, adventurous, humorous, and you learned a lesson after viewing it. Danny Elfman's score was GENIUS!!!!! UGH, what more can I say!? I LOVED THIS MOVIE! But I'm not surprised or anything, I knew that I'd love it. O and Johnny was lovely as always :) His mad hatter character was very well portrayed! GO SEE IT!

Today is thursday, and what a beautiful thursday it is :)

My heart was a little heavy this weekend. So much stuff going on in my life right now it's crazy. However I skyped my lil sis yesterday and she made my whole day TEN times better. I love her so much, she's like a mini me, but more confident, funnier, and just plain lovable. She's only 12, and just told me that she's gonna be trying out for the part of Jasmine in an Aladdin play coming up here pretty soon. I'm super stoked for her, she loves being on stage. She's fearless, something that I'm extremely jealous of. Maybe one day I can sing in front of people too. That'd be nice. So I was randomly watching An Extremely Goofy Movie yesterday, yes i kno its lame. But I just love the "beret girl" character... she plays the stereotypical beatnik of the coffee shop. She spits poetic wisdom and has a funky personality... I can dig it lol. I totally wish the beatnik scene would make its way back again. Dressed in all black, philosophically in tune, well-read, and just plain cool.

I remember watching this movie when I was little thinking that this was what college was all about, looking intelligent all of the time and sipping a nice hot cup of joe. I always wanted to be the "beatnik" of my friends, reciting poetry and pondering my thoughts 24-7 lol. But now I realize that college is so much more than that lol. However, I still love my coffee and 500 page books tee hee :)

Below (and above) is the sophisticated "Beret Girl" at the hip and happenin Bean Scene, which is a cool lil coffee shop that all of the college kids hang out at in the movie :) Can you dig it? lol

Another edition of Twisted Tuesdays!

So i really don' t have much this time because this week has been a complete WHIRLWIND! And it's only tuesday! I've got four quizzes, two exams, 2 papers, and 2 books to finish, all in this week. its B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Here are a few things that are on my wishlist for my b-day! All are pretty expensive, so I'd only be asking for one thing from this list... most likely the zebra luggage since I travel so much :), but then again I'd really like a new guitar too!

Gosh i really do dislike mondays lol.. so mundane and just long. I feel awful today and i know that I have so much to do this week. But I'm just gonna have to persevere! Yesterday I was feelin a little down about the whole relationship thing, but a talk with a friend made it ten times better... Anyways I should prob share with you what I did on Valentine's Day! Well 5 of my guy friends chose 10 of us single girls to cook dinner for, and cater for, and told us that we deserved to be treated better in life, and to be shown the love that we deserve I thought that was SO sweet. We had a lovely italian dinner and watched 50 First Dates :)

So I'll be 19 soon and I'm single. People are always in complete shock when I tell them this, but the truth is I've never felt like I've needed a man to complete me. I'm waiting for the right guy to come around, and I'm pretty sure that that's not gonna happen for another couple of years or so. I've never liked to consider dating as a hobby, and sure as heck consider it as one now even though I'm in college. I'm still enjoying the single life, sure I'd like to have a valentine on sunday cause it would be nice to go out, I'm not anti-boyfriend or anything, but for now, I'm satisfied :)

I can't wait for the day when I meet the man of my dreams, and know immediately that he's the one that I've been praying for.....

Me, my roomie, and a few other dorm girls took a lovely road trip to cinni this weekend :)

I want a room like this... well my room is just like this at home lol... except there is no wood floor in my room. My friends are always like why don't you have a bed Pay? Why are you sleeping on a mattress? and I'm just like... cuz i'm cool like that lol.

O and I want this bag :) Its super roomy... and its a tad girly while still having a lil edge... I really like leopard print :)

And I just bought this Urban Decay, Alice in Wonderland makeup kit. LOVE IT!

And I've been listening to Johnny all week.. He always makes my day a little more exciting!

And last but not least... I sketched a tres chic gal because I was super bored today, and because sketching is super therapeutic.

Waiting for spring break is like watching paint dry... so dang slow. But I'm not rushing things... life is good and I'm blessed to have one. I'm eating some popcorn right now... bout to start on this lovely homework, then go grub on some chinese food with some friends :) O and I'm taking a road trip with my girlies tomorrow!! so much fun! Do you ever just wish that some people actually understood who you were underneath? I do. College is a joke... it's just like highschool, except your living there. I don't fit in with any particular click, not the artsy, musicians, or intellectuals. i'm just a little too eccentric and introverted for that. People don't realize how super uncomfortable I am in big groups... anyways that's a whole other tangent. I am currently reading the biography of Marie Antoinette. It's super intriguing. It's almost 2'oclock in the morn, so I'm a little choppy with my sentences... but that's understandable eh?

O and I had a great time with my girl Meg tonight :) just being crazy as usual! We love so much of the same stuff it's crazy!

So I've always been fascinated with all things futuristic. That includes, Star Trek, Terminator, I Robot, futuristic clothing or gadgets. Shiny, new, sleek electronics have always intrigued me. And so... Apple's new gadget, the iPad.... is simply amazing. I mean I hate the name... it's retarded. But Steve Jobs can simply do no wrong. And releasing it in 2010? Genius! This is the perfect gadget to bring in the new futuristic decade. Too bad that I already got this new mac for christmas, or I would definitely grab one ASAP!!! I'll wait a few years.... :(

Snow... no sun... snow... still no sun.... lovely weather yesterday... but still no sun!!! What the heck!!!!! So sad.... I really need to see the sun. Other than complaining about the weather, theres really nothing else to do ... I'll probably just study like usual and maybe workout tonight. I luv it. Last night I attended a yoga class and it was SO incredibly relaxing!! I'm going to start doing it on my own or maybe with another friend. I can't explain how much stress was released last night.... it was... nice.

And the young ladies above inspire me to be myself and just be classss---ay... lol with a little spunk twisted in with it!!! I love them! Anita O'day, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald... the three Queens of Jazz!

So, I'm sitting in a coffee shop on campus listening to diplomatic son by vampire weekend. It's got this india reggae vibe... supah smooth... anyways.... I got out of my Art History class half an hour early, therefore giving me an hour break before my next class :) I love those moments lol. So I grabbed a salad and a searing hot cup of coffee, booted up my computer and sat down to blog :) I think I could eventually get a hang of this college thing... it'll take time for sure, but it's possible!

Contrary to what most people think, an introvert is not simply a person who is shy. In fact, being shy has little to do with being an introvert! Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness and anxiety, and while an introvert may also be shy, introversion itself is not shyness. Basically, an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around other people. Introverts are more concerned with the inner world of the mind. They enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings. They often avoid social situations because being around people drains their energy. This is true even if they have good social skills. This totally and completely defines me in every way...people are always calling me depressed and "a loner" and even anti-social... but I'm just an INTROVERT! lol
